Vince Van Patten is an American actor, former professional tennis player, and long-time poker commentator best known for his work with the World Poker Tour (WPT). Born on October 17, 1957, in Bellerose, New York, he comes from a show business family, his father was actor Dick Van Patten, and began performing in commercials and television as a child.
Before pivoting to poker, Van Patten had a multifaceted career: he competed professionally in tennis in the late 1970s and early 1980s, achieving a top-30 singles ranking, and he appeared in numerous TV shows and films, including the cult classic Rock ’n’ Roll High School.
Since 2003, Van Patten has been a prominent voice of the World Poker Tour, where his commentary alongside Mike Sexton became synonymous with the show’s broadcasting. In addition to hosting, he occasionally plays in tournaments and has written and produced projects related to poker and entertainment.
